Ron O'Neal

Ron O’Neal, 55, of Canadian, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at his home.

Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Church of Christ of Canadian, with Delbert McLoud and Cody O’Neal, officiating.  Burial will follow in Edith Ford Cemeteries under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Ron was born March 4, 1964 in Thomas, Oklahoma to Chuck and Tina O’Neal.  He was reared in Darrouzett and graduated from Watonga, Oklahoma in 1983.  During high school he was involved in football, basketball, and track. Soon after graduation he married Ferina Cook and they had 2 boys together.  Ron worked for the City of Henryetta, Oklahoma for about 5 years before moving to Bentonville, Arkansas to go to work for the city of Bentonville as a heavy equipment operator.  He would work there for 10 years, in 1999 he made his home south of Canadian.  While in Canadian he worked for various companies as heavy equipment operator, truck driver, and pumper.  In 2002 he married Tammye Scroggins, Ron loved her and her children as his own.  He was baptized in the Church of Christ of Wheeler.  Ron had many hobbies which include hunting, fly fishing, camping, love for horses, and riding his Harley.  He was always willing to help anyone in need. He was “Pop” to his grandchildren, who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Justin Folk.

Survivors include his wife, Tammye of the home; 2 daughters, Tara Folk and Johnnye Page and husband Brandon all of Canadian; 3 sons, Cody O’Neal and wife Laurel of Anchorage, Alaska, Casey O’Neal and wife Kendra of Surprise, Arizona, and Neil Baileys and wife Amber of Canadian; 2 sisters, Sheri Sturm and husband Rory of Kansas, and Brenda Johnson and husband Sam of Sayre, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren, Hayvyn , Brendan, Berkleigh, Kyra, Nathanael, Keelan, Xoe, Reilly, and Kaitlyn.

Memorials can be made to Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 S. 4th St., Canadian, Texas 79014.
