Mary Jane Dungan Wagner was born October 16, 1942, in Krebs, OK to Tommie Loil Dungan and Martha Garigan Dungan. She lived in Krebs until she was 13 years old when the family moved to Moab, Utah. The family lived on a school bus for a time; Mary worked in the orchards until she moved back to Texas. While living in Gruver she met Clarence Wagner. They married September 9, 1965. Mary and Clarence were married almost 53 years. He preceded her in death in 2018. She loved being a homemaker and taking care of her family. In those early years they took the girls and hauled hay together. When the girls left home Mary got her CDL; she and Clarence drove trucks across the US and Canada for 14 years. Mary loved to cook. She cooked and made a home for her and Clarence in the truck. She loved to mall shop for the grandkids while Clarence napped in the truck. While on the road Mary would put together baby blankets and sew them together when they returned home. She also loved to make doll clothes and taking quilting classes. It was not unusual for Mary to open her home, pay a bill, clothe & feed someone in need. Holton would say, “Meme is the best!”
Also preceding her in death were her parents, Tommie and Martha Garigan; and a sister, Lou Ella Martin.
