Marvin Ray Longhofer, 80, was born April 11, 1944, to Marvin Lee Longhofer and Harriet Julia Longhofer, in Canadian, TX. Marvin had two siblings, Don and Karen. He attended school in Canadian and graduated in 1962. He attended college in Nacogdoches at Stephen F. Austin State University and while there met and married Flora Mohon.
Marvin & Flora were married for 26 years until her passing in 1990. They had two children, Larry Cullen and Jamie Lee. They lived in Amarillo, and then Gladewater, where her family was from. Upon the passing of his father, they moved to Canadian so he could take over the Longhofer ranching duties. Marvin lived in Canadian as a farmer & rancher. In the wintertime, he used his skill as a gifted craftsman, a skill he learned from his Grandfather Longhofer, to build cabinets and remodel homes for people in the area. In the late 1980’s, they moved back to Gladewater for a warmer climate. He built a cabin on the Sabine River where he loved spending time running the river, fishing, running trotlines, and being in the woods enjoying nature and family. In the late 1990’s, Marvin married Sharon Johnson, and they were married for 27 years. Sharon brought with her 3 more children for Marvin to add to his crew, Allen Bailey, Misti Bailey and Kristi Bailey. Marvin and Sharon moved to Caddo Lake, where Marvin built up their homestead on the beautiful water he loved so much. They recently moved into Longview, TX, to be a little closer to civilization and medical care.
Marvin was preceded in death by his father Marvin, mother Harriet, Flora Longhofer, Allen Bailey, and Matthew Williams.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Sharon: his siblings, Don & Mary Longhofer, and Karen & Jim Baker: his children Larry & Wendy Longhofer, Jamie & Jason Robertson, Misti Beall and Kristi Sexton: his Grandchildren, Dylan & Chasity Longhofer, Dustin Longhofer & fiancé Jaylen Lewis, Samuel Longhofer, Kylee Longhofer, Morgan Robertson, Daniel & Rayne Robertson, Lyndsey & David Head, Devin Vasquez, Zane Bailey, Michael & Teana Williams, Joshua Sexton, and Nic & Anna Sexton: along with 6 great-grandchildren, and countless other family members and lifelong friends.
