Kyle Wayne Prater, 53 of Canadian, died May 26, 2021, in Amarillo, TX.
Viewing for family and friends will be 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Sunday, May 30, 2021, and Monday, May 31, 2021, at Carmichael-Whatley Canadian Funeral Home. Memorial graveside services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery, with Pastor Donald Hill, officiating. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.
Kyle Wayne Prater was born December 7, 1967, in Pampa to Wyman Prater & Jan Wilson Prater Furr. He attended Canadian schools graduating Canadian High School and attended Texas Tech University. As a young man Kyle attended the Church of Christ with his family and was baptized while in the 8th grade. He assured his family, “I am saved”. Kyle loved John Wayne and could imagine meeting him in heaven. In high school Kyle was voted the most likely to succeed and voted the best legs. He played the guitar and loved to sing. Kyle worked hard, driving trucks in the oilfield, farming or taking care of cattle on the family farm. He had an outgoing personality and loved his girls. Kayla and MadiCinn knew if they needed anything, “dad” would do his best to make it happen, he was an encouraging dad.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Kayla Prater of Edmond, OK, and MadiCinn Prater of Canadian; parents: Jan Furr of Canadian and Wyman Prater and wife Kelly of Canadian; life partner & companion: Tiffinnie Lincoln of Higgins; sister: Jennifer Mills and husband Luke of Canadian; 3 brothers: Shannon Prater, Gary Prater and Heath Prater and wife Nikki all from Canadian; nieces & nephews: Evan Prater, Bailey Hudson and husband Braden, Tanner Schafer, Tripp Mills, Sophia Mills, Blaze Mills and Hank Prater; and granddog, Callie.
