Jose Jesus Gutiérrez, 79 of Canadian passed into his heavenly home on November 27, 2024, surrounded by his family. 

Rosary service will be 9:30 am, Funeral Mass at 10:00 am Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Canadian Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Marco Gonzalez, Parochial Administrator, officiating. Inurnment will be 12:00 pm on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery.

Joe Gutiérrez was born November 19, 1945, in Santa Rosa, New Mexico to Jose DeJesus and Amalia Urenda Gutiérrez. He moved to Canadian when he was 6 years old, attending Canadian schools. Joe played with the fighting Wildcats from 1961 until 1964. He served with the US Army in Viet Nam. Joe married Carol Chaffin on December 26, 1970, celebrating almost 54 years of marriage. He served his church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church over 40 years as a Deacon. Joe was an avid Wildcat fan not missing a game in 30 plus years. Carol said he was passionate about “his Wildcats and the kids”.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Amalia Gutiérrez; 3 sibling, Donald Gutiérrez, Peter Gutiérrez and Thomas Gutiérrez.

Those left to celebrate Joe’s memory are his wife, Carol Gutiérrez of Canadian; 3 sons, Jose, and John Paul Gutiérrez of Canadian, Andrew Gutiérrez of San Antonio; 4 daughters, Carmen Gutiérrez Coyne and husband Martin, their children Anais and Jack of Mansfield, Teresa Gutiérrez and children Amalia Gutiérrez and Tristan Gutiérrez of Euless, Anna Stewart and husband Chad their children Eva and Ivy Stewart of Amarillo, Olivia Gutiérrez Miles and husband Ryan, their children George and Arthur Miles of Lewisville; 8 siblings, Dolores Cabrera of Amarillo, Jimmy Gutiérrez of Amarillo, Bobby Gutiérrez of Amarillo, Martha Gutiérrez of Amarillo, Amelia Gutiérrez of Amarillo, Julie Gutiérrez of Austin, Simeon Gutiérrez of Lubbock, and Francisco Gutiérrez of Bedford.
