Jerri Messenger Hallum, 65, of Canadian, died August 26, 2017 in Canadian.Memorial services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, August 31, 2017, at the Church of Christ of Canadian, with Jake Perkins, minister, and Jerry Smith, shepherd, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian. Mrs. Hallum was born March 2, 1952 in Throckmorton. She graduated from Aspermont High School in 1971 and later graduated from Abilene Commercial College. Jerri married Thomas Hallum on November 11, 1972 in Aspermont and they moved to Canadian on April 1, 1980. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Canadian for 37 years and enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed walking with her friends, and growing plants and flowers. Jerri owned and operated The Upholstery Shop from 1986 until 2012. She was preceded in death by her mother, Leta Gholson; and three siblings, Mary Beth Wilcoxson, Donald Glen Messenger, and Joann Messenger. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Hallum of the home; two daughters, Mindy Vinson and husband David of Canadian, and Joy Hallum of Fort Worth; two grandchildren, Callie Vinson and Hailey Vinson; two siblings, Lonnie Messenger and wife Shirley of Abilene, and Inez Elrod and husband Dexter of Rotan; her mother-in-law, Bettye Gardner of Aspermont; her brother-in-law, Tony Hallum and wife Anita of Hobbs, New Mexico; several nieces and nephews; and many loving and caring friends.
