Janet M. Wheeler Craig, 81, of Canadian, passed Monday, February 21, 2022, in Amarillo.
Private Graveside services will be Thursday, February 24, 2022, at the Lipscomb Cemetery, with Craig Howard, Officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.
Janet Marie Wheeler was born on April 24, 1940, in Los Angeles, CA to William H. and Dorothy A. Scott Wheeler. Jan and her sisters Shirley & Vivian loved spending summers on the Ollie Scott Ranch in Lipscomb County. The close relationship with family inspired Jan’s love for genealogy. She loved putting family genealogy books together. She was gifted with hospitality loving to cook and care for those who came to her home. Janet and Jimmie Dorman were partners in life and in business. They farmed and ran a dairy in Kansas before moving back to Canadian in 1999 to be closer to Jan’s family. Jan and Jimmie loved sitting on their back deck, enjoying the birds, the beautiful sunsets, and the peace and quiet.
Janet was preceded by in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Vivian Henwood and Shirley Douglas and stepson, Gary Dorman.
Janet is survived by her husband Jimmie E. Dorman of Canadian; son, John Ross Craig and wife Brandy of West Columbia; daughter, Cindy Craig of Portland, OR; four grandchildren: Kameron, Brian, Layton, & Annistyn; Brother, Harry Kent Wheeler of Amarillo; Jimmie’s children: Mike Dorman and wife Bari, Tim Dorman and wife Susan, Jamie Dorman of Burlington, CO, Kathy Thoman & husband Greg of Jamestown, KS, Rita Marken and husband Craig of Salina, KS, Loretta Meats and husband Carl of Concordia, KS, Connie Hawkinson and husband Earl of Aurora, CO along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
