Harmon E. White, 81, of Canadian, passed away in his home on December 16, 2017, surrounded by his three children. Graveside services were 2:00 PM Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery, with Wayne Williams, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian. Mr. White was born in Clovis, New Mexico on March 23, 1936, to Ernest “Bill” and Mary White. Harmon graduated from Canadian High School in 1954 and attended College in Coffeeville, Kansas on a football scholarship. He was married to Rosalie “Joey” Goldwater in 1957 for eleven years and had three children. He was employed at Nunn Electric and Chaparral Electric in sales for several years. In the mid 1970’s Harmon moved back to Canadian from Amarillo and had a pest control business and ran two restaurants, the Vic Mon and Canadian. Side work included being an electrician and all around handyman. In his retirement he served his community by driving those who needed transportation to doctor’s appointments, the grocery store, and church services. He looked in on those without family as well as others and helped them all with whatever was needed. Many also knew and loved him through his hospice volunteer work. Working crossword puzzles was a favorite pastime, and had a great sense of humor. He is survived by his sons, Eddie White and Kenny White; his daughter Jamie Eaton and husband Jeff; grandchildren Jalissa Parle and husband Joe and Jordan Eaton and wife Brittainny; and great granddaughter, Allison Parle. Memorials may be made to Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 4th Street, Canadian, Texas 79014.
