Gene Rex, 75, of Canadian, died September 18, 2017 in Canadian. Services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, September 21, 2017, at the Canadian Church of Christ, with Jake Perkins, ministering pastor, Jerry Smith, shepherd, and Dean Smith, shepherd, officiating. Mr. Rex was born June 13, 1942 in Altus, Oklahoma to Troy and Doris Rex. His family moved to Texas when Gene was two months old. He married Ada Cooper on March 11, 1961 in Spearman. They moved to Canadian on August 25, 1973. Gene worked for United Mud Service for 20 years, and then worked for King Well Service, retiring after 24 years. He was a contract pumper for Dean Smith for 15 years. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and sports; these times were spent enjoying them with his family. Gene was a member of the Canadian Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Ada Ann Rex of the home; a daughter, Annette Wagner and husband Richard of Fay, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Marcee Rex of Amarillo; three sisters, Shirley Corona of Alexandria, Louisiana, Brenda Vera and husband Johnny of Spearman, and Sybil Vera and husband Ruben of Cordell, Oklahoma a brother, George Rex of Spearman; two brothers-in-law, RL Cooper of Georgetown and Bobby Cooper and wife Polly of Amarillo; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
