Billy Wayne Schafer, 64, of Canadian, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 in Canadian.

Memorial services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Carmichael-Whatley Canadian Chapel with Shawn Davis officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.
The family will meet at the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Saturday and lead everyone to the cemetery.
Billy Wayne was born April 4, 1960 in Canadian to Billy and Sue Schafer. He was raised on the Isaac’s Ranch and attended schools in Canadian. As a young boy, he and his family were members of First Christian Church. After high school he married Lesa Kay Stewart on November 12, 1979, and moved to the Washita River south of Canadian. Lesa passed away on June 7, 2024. Billy Wayne worked on the Brainard Ranch and the McMordie Ranch for several years and also worked at Heaton Feed Yard in Pampa for a few years. He and Lesa moved back to Canadian, and he went to work for Canadian Feed Yard and worked there for over 38 years, retiring in 2022. He was a hard worker and dedicated to his work.
Billy Wayne was involved in team roping over the years and was a member of the USTRA. He and Lesa traveled many miles to compete in team roping events. Billy Wayne was an honest and opinionated man; he would let you know what he was thinking and what was on his mind. His filter was limited at times. Billy Wayne loved hard and he was the type of person you would like on your side. He loved his family and enjoyed taking his grandson, Easton, to hunt coyotes and prairie dogs.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sue Schafer; and his father-in-law, Clent Stewart.
Survivors include his 2 daughters, Katie Schafer and Jesus Perez of Canadian, Patsy Kincannon and husband Derek of Abra; grandsons, Easton Schafer, Jasper Kincannon; father, Billy Schafer of Canadian; brother, Lindsey Schafer and wife Julia of Canadian; 2 sisters, Cindy Long and husband Walter of Miami and Sandra Young and husband Jeff of Amarillo; mother-in-law, Patsy Stewart of Pampa; sister-in-law, Lena Lowrey and husband Lee of Pampa; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other family members and special friends.
