Services for Johnny Curtis III, 57, of Canadian, Texas, will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Golden, officiating. Burial will be in Eller Flat Prairie Dell Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, Texas. Mr. Curtis passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2007 in Canadian, Texas. Johnny was born on November 9, 1949 in Waurika, OK to Mrs. Yolanda Dean Curtis Kelley and the late Mr. J.W. Curtis II. He attended grammar school in Electra, TX and graduated from Canadian High School in 1968. He then attended Southern Nazarene College in Bethany, OK and Central Oklahoma State in Edmond, OK. He later got his Real Estate license from Amarillo College. He married Jeanne Jahnel on December 26, 1992 in Canadian, TX. He was the owner of Curtis Construction. He served on the Canadian City Council and was a long time member and past president of the Canadian Lions Club. Johnny was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as deacon, member of the choir and was a Sunday school teacher for the 4th, 5th, & 6th grade boys. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Curtis of Canadian, TX; three sons, Ryan Curtis and wife Jennifer of Oklahoma City, OK; Trent Ezzell and wife Kay Lynne of Fort Worth, TX; Colby Ezzell of Canadian, TX; his mother Yolanda Kelley of Rogers AR; one sister, Vonda Robbins and husband Keith of Canadian, TX; two grandchildren, Creed Curtis of Oklahoma City, OK and Sawyer Ezzell of Fort Worth, TX. The family suggests memorials be to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 706 Main, Canadian, TX 79014 or the Canadian Lions Club, P.O. Box 91, Canadian, TX 79014.
