Graveside services for Mr. Ray Risley, 86, of Canadian, TX will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery with Donald Hill, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mr. Risley passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010 in Canadian, TX. Ray was born October 6, 1924 in Alden, OK to the late Mr. Silas Risley and Mrs. Mamie (Little) Risley. He attended grammar school at Hart School in Hemphill County and was a 1943 graduate of Canadian High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. He married Hattie Sollock on August 8, 1948 in Miami, TX. She preceded him in death on February 6, 1997. Ray worked as a farmer and rancher in Hemphill County for many years. He was a member of local AM Legion Post 56 and VFW Post 7469. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester and Clyde Risley and one sister, Grace Smith. He is survived by two sons, David Risley and wife Linda of Pampa, TX; Larry Risley and wife DeLois of Canadian, TX; five grandchildren, Misty O’Quin and husband John of Amarillo, TX; Lisa Hoskins of Eufaula, OK; LeAnn Williams and husband John of Canadian, TX; Brandon Risley and wife D’Lisa of Canadian, TX; Lori St. Clair and husband Bobby of Amarillo, TX; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
