Elizabeth Ward

Services for Mrs. Elizabeth Ward, 90, of Memphis, TX will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Downey, officiating and Rev. Dale Sexton, assisting. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Mrs. Ward passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010 in Childress, TX. Elizabeth was born July 8, 1920 in Bethany, OK to the late Mr. Newman Pound and Mrs. Minnie (Barnett) Pound. She attended schools in Cottonwood OK. They moved to Memphis, TX in 1940 from Coalgate, OK. She married Robert Edwin Ward on November 23, 1940 in Memphis, TX. He preceded her in death on August 3, 1984. Elizabeth was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by two sons, Bobby Caroll Ward and wife Nelwyn and Edwin Dale Ward and wife Shirley all of Memphis, TX; one daughter, Patricia Murream Graham and husband Dell of Memphis, TX; one brother, Samuel Pound of Rattan, OK; one sister, Eunice Ward of Hedley, TX; 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
