Services for Robert “Red” Perkins Sr., 68, of Higgins, TX will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Higgins with Rev. Clifford Baze, officiating. Burial will be in Higgins Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mr. Perkins passed away November 5, 2006 in Enid, OK. He was born on December 7, 1937 in Cincinnati, IA to the late Mr. Homer Perkins and Mrs. Leeona Vincent Perkins. He attended grammar school in Mendota, MO and graduated high school in Unionville, MO. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He married Doris Wheeler on July 25, 1959 at the First Baptist Church in Unionville, MO. Red worked for Baker & Taylor as a tool pusher. He then went on to become an independent drilling consultant. They moved to Higgins, TX in 1974 from Spearman, TX. In 1975 he built and created his own enterprise named Perk’s. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Doris Perkins of Higgins, TX; one son, Robert Lee Perkins Jr. and wife Robin of Oklahoma City, OK; two daughters, Deborah Jone Perkins of Higgins, TX; Penny Lou Hughart and husband Jeff of El Reno, OK; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren..
