Memorial services for Glenn W. Ricketts, 88, of Canadian, TX will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kade Curry, officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mr. Ricketts passed away Friday, July 2, 2010 in Canadian, TX. Glenn was born November 11, 1921 in Hereford, TX to the late Mr. Ira Sankey Ricketts and Mrs. Annie (Hughes) Ricketts. He was a 1938 graduate of Hereford High School. He served in the United States Army during World II in New Guinea and the Philippines. Glenn graduated from the seminary at Phillips University in Enid, OK in 1950. He married Joyce McMurry on June 15, 1949 in Lubbock, TX. She preceded him in death on January 18, 2007. They moved to Canadian, TX on August 12, 1999 from Albuquerque, NM. Glenn served churches in Snyder, TX; Reno, NV; Artesia, NM and Albuquerque, NM. He was active in the First Presbyterian Church in Canadian, TX where he served on the session and he belonged to the Canadian Rotary Club. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Ricketts; and a granddaughter, Gwyn Ricketts. He is survived by a son, Doug Ricketts and wife Cathy of Lipscomb, TX; a granddaughter, Lindsay Ricketts of Denver, CO; a sister, Catharine Russell of Hereford, TX; a sister-in-law, Nora Phillips of Lake Kiowa, TX; a brother-in-law, Howard Higgins of Hereford, TX; and a host of loving family and friends.
