Rosary services for Mr. Rogacion “Blue” Ortiz, 87, of Memphis, TX will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Hughs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jim Schmitmeyer, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, TX under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Mr. Ortiz passed away Monday, April 5, 2010 in Memphis, TX. He was born May 21, 1922 in Weslaco, TX to the late Mr. Martin Ortiz and Mrs. Paula (Garcia) Ortiz. He attended schools in Weslaco, TX. He married Luisa Mata January 7, 1953 in LaVilla, TX. They moved to Memphis, TX in 1953 from Edinburg, TX. Blue was self employed and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by one son, Jaime Ortiz on March 7, 2006 and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Luisa Ortiz of Memphis, TX; three daughters, Nilda Islas and husband Frank and Silvia Lopez all of Amarillo, TX; Lupe Jurado and husband Francisco of Memphis, TX; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
