Services for Mrs. Jetta Ruth Slack, 83, of Oklahoma City, OK formerly of Higgins, TX will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Higgins, TX with Brother Ronnie Barcak, officiating. Burial will follow in Higgins Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mrs. Slack passed away Thursday, February 11, 2010 in Oklahoma City, OK. Jetta was born March 21, 1926 in Higgins, TX to the late Mr. Adolph Bissantz and Flora (Shore) Bissantz. She was a 1943 graduate of Higgins High School. She married Joe Philip Slack on June 2, 1946 in Higgins, TX. He preceded her in death on August 2, 1994. While living in Higgins she was a member of the Docilis Club, Eastern Star and the First Baptist Church. Jetta was a homemaker and later became an assembly-line leader. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren and Stanley Bissantz and one sister, Katherine Louise Bissantz. She is survived by one son, Philip Slack and wife Kathy of Haymarket, VA; four daughters, Connie Jo Treneer of Oceanside, CA; Rev. Miriam Susan Grove and husband Chris of Guthrie, OK; Aleta Mannion and husband Parris of Carmichael, CA; Jetta Colleen Herring and husband David of Bakersfield, CA; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church, 309 North Main St., Higgins, TX 79046.
