James Reid

Graveside services for Mr. James Reid, 73, of Georgetown, TX, will be at 1:30 P.M. Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian, TX with Rev. Danny Sanders, officiating. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Canadian, TX. Services are under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mr. Reid passed away Thursday, February 4, 2010 in Georgetown, TX. James was born January 17, 1937 in Canadian, TX to the late Mr. Joseph Reid Sr. and Mrs. Eura (Wilson) Reid. He was a 1955 graduate of Canadian High School. He then went on to attend McMurry University in Abilene, TX. James worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. He then later became a hotel manager for numerous hotels in various states such as, Oklahoma, Texas, California and New Mexico. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Canadian, TX and served in the National Guard. He is preceded in death by three brothers, J.B. Reid Jr., Charles Reid and Jon Henry Reid and his sister-in-law, Elayne Reid. He is survived by one brother, Jerry Reid and wife Becky of Canadian, TX; two sisters, Grace Ann Barnard and husband Joe Bill of Ruidoso, NM; Eura Mae Gantt and husband Johnny of Georgetown, TX; his sister-in-law, Carol Reid of Canadian, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church, 520 Main, Canadian, TX 79014.
