Services for Vernon Flowers 76, of Canadian, TX will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at the First Baptist Church with Ben Mathers, officiating and Brother Dinzel Leonard, assisting. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mr. Flowers passed away Saturday, July 15, 2006 in Canadian, TX. He was born on January 18, 1930 in Perryton, TX to the late Mr. Atlas Flowers and Mrs. Myrtle Matthews Flowers. He was a 1947 graduate of Perryton High School and also attended Texas Christian University. He moved to Canadian, TX in 1948 from Perryton, TX. He married Betty Kemp Flowers on August 18, 1950 at the First United Methodist Church in Canadian, TX. Vernon spent his lifetime operating the Flowers ranch. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Betty Flowers of Canadian, TX; one son, Kelly Flowers and wife Charlotte of Canadian, TX; one daughter, Tammy Flowers of Amarillo, TX; one brother, R.A. Flowers and wife Alice of Osceola, MO; one sister, Lois Webb of Mansfield, TX; three grandchildren, Charlie Flowers of Canadian, TX; Marshall Flowers of Hydro, OK; Madison Ladd of Amarillo, TX and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 South 4th St., Canadian, TX 79014.
