Graveside services for Laura Smith, 75, of Canadian, TX will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2006 at the Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian, TX with Rev. Donald Hill, officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mrs. Smith died July 2, 2006 in Woodward, OK. She was born on May 21, 1931 in Beeville, TX to the late Mr. Theodore Priour and Mrs. Virginia Priour. She attended schools in Skidmore, TX. She moved to Canadian, TX in the early 1960’s from Ingleside, TX. She worked as a cook at the Canadian Restaurant and the Oasis Truck Stop. She was also a member of the River Church. She was preceded in death by one son, Calvin Ray Smith on August 3, 1988. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Miller and Laura Parker both of Canadian, TX; Rose Marie Posey of Tulsa, OK; one brother, Ted Priour of Papalote, TX; one sister, Janice Hutson of Monroe, LA; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the River Church, 221 Main St., Canadian, TX.
