Odessa, TX -- Services for Mildred L. Martin, 86, of Odessa, TX, formerly of Memphis, TX, will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 1, 2006 at Hughs Memorial Chapel in Memphis, TX, with Rev. Darrell Burton officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Martin passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 in Odessa, TX. She was born on August 14, 1919 in Hopewell, TX to the late Mr. Tommy Brince Gambill and Mrs. Carrie Gladys (Hargrove) Gambill. She grew up around Hopewell, TX and Paris, TX. She married Byron Martin on February 12, 1949 in Memphis, TX. He preceded her in death in November of 1986. Mrs. Martin was a housewife and helped her husband on the farm. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She lived in Memphis, TX for over 70 years, and moved to Houston with her daughter in October of 2005. She later moved to Odessa in February of 2006. Mrs. Martin was a baptist. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Tommy Dyer in 2002; two sisters; and three brothers. She is survived by one daughter, Patsy Rickman and husband Charles of Webster, TX; two brothers, Joe Gambill of Memphis, TX and Bill Gambill of Frankston, TX; two sisters, Betty Collins of Amarillo, TX and Dorothy Isom of Stinnett, TX; her niece and caregiver, Jeanette Keeton and husband Tommy of Odessa, TX; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
