Blake Durham, pastor, and Rev. David Jenkins, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian. Skip was born on June 27, 1959 in Julesburg, Colorado. While in high school he worked for Eddie and Ima Detrixhe and Bill Nicholson. He played football and graduated from Higgins High School in 1977. Skip went to Wyoming to work on pipeline and then worked for Norman Bay, he managed the farms for Braum’s, he worked at BFI and IBP as a mechanic and traveled throughout all 50 states and several countries driving trucks for Koch Industries. Throughout his travels, Skip always sent his nieces postcards from each place he visited and made sure he stopped to visit his grandmother in Nebraska. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends from Houston and his nephews, drinking sweet tea, and sleeping through movies. Despite his rough exterior, Skip had a big, soft heart and dearly loved his family, friends, and every animal he met, as his mother can attest, as she often found white mice, kittens, raccoons, and goldfish hidden in his sock drawer. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Pierce, and his brother, Bryan Pierce. Skip is survived by his mother, Shirley Pierce of Higgins; a sister, Brenda Jenkins and husband Dale of Higgins; a brother, Jim Pierce and wife Tara of Argonia, Kansas; a stepdaughter, Infinity Carmady and granddaughter, Kinzleynne Laird, both of Houston. He was also “Uncle Si” to his siblings’ children, Kayla and Bobby Gregg, Katie and Caleb Whittington, Kari and Karley Jenkins, Trevor and Brayden Pierce, and two great-nephews who adored him, Samuel Gregg and Walter Whittington.
