Services for Mrs. Helen Luease Knox, 57, of Memphis, TX will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Memphis, TX with Rev. Judge Elliot Smith, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, TX under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, TX. Mrs. Knox passed away Thursday, August 27, 2009 in Lubbock, TX. Helen was born November 13, 1951 in Memphis, TX to the late Mr. Judge Elliot Smith, Sr. and Mrs. Rosie Maggilee Minor Smith. She was a graduate of Memphis High School. She worked as a caregiver for many years. Mrs. Knox was a lifelong resident of Memphis, TX. She married Starlin “Buddy” Leo Knox on August 6, 1969 in Memphis, TX. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church in Memphis, TX. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bershundia Knox. She is survived by one son, Charles Ray Knox of Lubbock, TX; three daughters, Patsy Knox of Lubbock, TX; Toni Smith of Memphis, TX, Jackie Knox of Memphis, TX; one step-son, Bobby Ray Knox of Lubbock, TX; six brothers, Clemmie Smith of Wichita Falls, TX, Alonzo Smith of Memphis, TX, Daniel Smith of Memphis, TX, Benjamin Smith of Amarillo, TX, Charles Smith of Amarillo, TX, Judge Smith, Jr. of Wichita Falls, TX; three sisters, Verdia Steptoe of Amarillo, TX, Elizabeth Walters of Wichita Falls, TX, Mae Newsome Smith of Memphis, TX; five grandchildren, Vaughntray Knox of Lubbock, TX, Bershundia Knox of Lubbock, TX, Bridgette Massey of Lubbock, TX, Kadeijah Smith of Memphis, TX, and Roger Dale Massey, Jr. of Lubbock, TX.
