Billy Rogers, 86, of Canadian, died March 9, 2017 in Canadian. Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, March 11, 2017, at First Baptist Church, with Pastor Donald Hill of The Rivers Ministries, and Pastor David Williams of Locust Grove Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian. Mr. Rogers was born March 20, 1930 in Canadian to Mark and Ollie Vannoy Rogers, and was a graduate of Canadian High School. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. He married Peggy Hutcheson in 1950, and she preceded him in death in September of 1973. Billy farmed and ranched with his brother, Garlon Rogers, in Lipscomb County from 1954 until 2017. He served on the Hemphill County Soil & Water Conservation Board, and was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church. Billy was also preceded in death by his parents, and a sister-in-law, Pat Rogers. Survivors include his son, Jeff Rogers and wife Belinda of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; a brother, Garlon Rogers and wife Jackie of Canadian; a granddaughter, Hilary Shellhorse and husband William Brent; two great grandchildren, Holden and Hutton; two nieces, Deana Stephens, and Christy Francis and husband Scott; a grandniece, Lesley Garvey and husband Chad; a grandnephew, Travis Francis and wife Tessa; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Winkle. Memorials may be made to Mesa View Assisted Living, 1 Teas Circle, Canadian, Texas 79014; Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 S. 4th Street, Canadian, Texas 79014; or a charity of choice. The family will gather at the home of Garlon and Jackie Rogers at 919 Conklin in Canadian.
