Cecil Martinez

Memorial Services for Cecil Martinez, 65, of Memphis, TX, will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 1, 2006 at Red Marble Ministries Church in Memphis, TX, with Bro. Clinton Elliott officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mr. Martinez passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2006 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born on November 22, 1940 in Cuero, TX to the late Mr. Prospero Martinez, Sr. and Mrs. Juana (Salazar) Martinez. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam War veteran. He married Lena Sue Spruill on March 24, 1989 in Amarillo, TX. Mr. Martinez worked at Builder's Square in Amarillo, TX for 14 years. He moved to Memphis, TX in 1999, where he was employed at Birdsong Peanut Factory. He was a member of Red Marble Ministries and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Jesus; two sisters, Fern and Mary Lou; and a son, Cecil. He is survived by his wife Lena Sue of Memphis, TX; four daughters, Michelle M., Melissa Guerra, and Myra Martinez, all of San Antonio, TX, and Elaine of Texas; two step-children, Johnnie Sue Milton and Gary McAlister, both of Memphis, TX; a grandson, Marcos of San Antonio, TX; and four brothers, Bernabe "Ben" of Amarillo, TX, Pasqual of Bay City, TX, and Robert and Prospero, Jr., both of Victoria, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038.
