Ollie Simmons

Services for Mr. Ollie Simmons, 88, of Memphis, TX will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the Church of Christ with Pastor Alan Wilson, officiating and Tom Anderson, assisting. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mr. Simmons passed away Monday, July 20, 2009 in Memphis, TX. Mr. Simmons was born April 5, 1921 in Childress, TX to the late Mr. Eugene Simmons and Mrs. Ella (Price) Simmons. He attended schools in Childress, TX. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Ollie married Bessie Ricks on May 20, 1942 in Hollis, OK. They moved to Hall County in 1955 from Childress, TX. She preceded him in death on February 27, 1959. Mr. Simmons was a farmer in Hall County for a number of years. He married Christine White on November 2, 1962 in Lakeview, TX. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2001. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren. He is survived by one son, Garroll White of Fresno, CA; three daughters, Janet Montgomery of Memphis, TX; Lavene Holcomb of Amarillo, TX; Brenda Godfrey of Comanche, TX; two brothers, Harold Simmons of Childress, TX; T.B. Simmons of Lubbock, TX; four sisters, Leta Seal of Childress, TX; Sue Luman of Odessa, TX; Glenda Stowe of San Diego, CA; Jackie Thompson of Amarillo, TX; 11 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
