Viola Barbee Robertson

Services for Viola Barbee Robertson, 92, of Lubbock, TX formerly of Memphis will be at 2:00 PM Friday, July 10, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Memphis, TX with Rev. Neely Landrum, officiating. Burial will follow in Union Hill Cemetery in Lakeview, TX under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, TX. Mrs. Robertson passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2009, after a brief illness, in Lubbock, TX. She was born September 9, 1916 in Hall County, TX to the late Mr. J.H. Barbee Sr. and Mrs. Ethel Smith Barbee. She was a 1935 graduate of Lakeview High School. She was a homemaker and substitute schoolteacher for many years. Mrs. Robertson lived her entire life in Hall County until August 2006 when she moved to a retirement community in Lubbock. She married Aubrey Robertson on August 17, 1937 in Plaska, TX. He preceded her in death in 1991. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Memphis, TX. She was preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters and one grandson, Chris Robertson. She is survived by two sons, Keith Robertson and wife Sherry of Carrollton, TX; Carl Robertson and wife Kaye of Lubbock, TX; one brother, Bobby Barbee of Lakeview, TX; two sisters, Irene Russey of Memphis, TX; Ellie Peeples of Amarillo, TX; one granddaughter, two grandsons, four great-granddaughters, three great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Lubbock, 1102 Slide Rd., Suite 3, Lubbock, TX 79416.
