Othel E. Stout Rippstein, 95, of Higgins, departed this life on September 14, 2016 in Comfort, Texas. Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, September 19, 2016, at the Church of the Nazarene in Higgins, with Rev. Cawlie Johnson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Higgins Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian. Mrs. Rippstein was born January 11, 1921 in Higgins to Effie Ellen Hogg Stout and Homer Olin Stout. She graduated from Bishop, Oklahoma high school and attended college in Alva, Oklahoma. Othel married Paul Rippstein on December 23, 1939 in Arnett, Oklahoma. They farmed in the Higgins area and in Ellis County, Oklahoma. She later became a licensed vocational nurse, working at the Canadian Hospital. Othel committed to Christ at an early age and continued to live a life of love and service. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul; two sisters, Vivian Butts and husband Ted, and Ila Darnell; and a granddaughter, Deborah Sissons. Survivors include two daughters, Letha Sue Wilson and husband Jack of Boerne, and Joy Ellen Campbell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Rebecca Cruise, Sarah Wilson, Chleora Denning and husband Kris, and Michael Wilson; three great grandchildren, Christina Pendergrass and husband Vincent, Brittany Erskine and husband Seamus, and Keenan Cruise and wife Jordan; four great-great grandchildren, Rose and Oliver Pendergrass and Savannah and Weston Kimey; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
