Services for Mildred James, 82, of Bedford, TX, will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 3, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Canadian, TX with Eddie James, officiating. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian, TX under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, Texas. Mrs. James passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009 in Bedford, TX. Mildred was born March 20, 1927 in Hansford County, TX to the late Mr. Roy Sheets and Mrs. Ella (Spradling) Sheets. She was a 1944 graduate of Canadian High School. She married Bill James on April 16, 1943 in Canadian, TX. He preceded her in death on October 13, 1990. Mildred lived abroad in Colombia, Argentina and Indonesia. She had a passion for people, family and genealogy. She was an active community volunteer and docent at the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, OK. She recently moved to Bedford, TX to be near her children and grandchildren. Mildred was homemaker and a Methodist. She was preceded in death by her son, John Robert James and her sister, Catherine Sessions. She is survived by one daughter, Anna Koetting of Bedford, TX; one son, Ed James and wife Jan of Austin, TX; one sister, Evelyn Ludden and husband Herb of Cleburne, TX; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
