Services for Lee Brown, 87, of memphis, TX will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church in Memphis with the Rev. Gary Boles officiating. The family will have a private burial in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hughs Funeral Home. Mr. Brown passed away on Monday, April 10, 2006 in memphis, TX. He was born Jan. 23, 1919, in Bluegrove to the late Mr. Lewis Lee Brown and Mrs. Willie Mae Simons Brown. He moved to Childress at the age of 17 to learn the parts business from his brother. He married Polly Kerr on Dec. 26, 1938, in Hollis, Okla. He opened Brown Auto Supply in Memphis in 1946. Mr. Brown owned and operated the business until his retirement in 1982. He enjoyed a long retirement, keeping active in such activities as playing golf and hunting and fishing. Lee was very fond of his bird dogs and loved working in his yard. He also enjoyed playing bridge with his wife and good friends. Mr. Brown was a member of First United Methodist Church in Memphis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; a sister; and a daughter, Fredna Bowman, on Jan. 23, 2006. Survivors include his wife, Polly of Memphis; a son, Randy Brown and wife Diane of Lubbock; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church, 121 N. Eighth, Memphis, TX 79245 or the National Alzheimer's Association, 1400 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
