Rosary services for Elodia Guerrero, 94, formerly of Miami, TX will be at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Canadian, TX. Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Canadian, TX with Father Nicholas Gerber, Officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mrs. Guerrero passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in Bastrop, TX. Elodia was born October 23, 1921 in Canadian, TX to the late Mr. Emilio R. Estrada and Mrs. Candelaria (Belmontes) Estrada. Elodia was a graduate of Canadian High School. She married Jose Lopez Guerrero on April 18, 1942 in Canadian, TX. He preceded her in death in 1971. She resided in Miami TX until 2011 when she moved to Manor TX. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Pampa. She was a member of the Women’s Council in Pampa. She was preceded in death by her sister, Modesta Estrada and brother, Ramon Estrada. In October 1992, Governor Ann Richards commissioned Elodia as a "Yellow Rose Of Texas". Elodia is survived by four sons, Patrick Thomas Guerrero and wife Brenda of Keene, TX; Ramon R. Guerrero and Kay Labonte of Attleboro, MA; Steve Guerrero and wife Elizabeth of Albuquerque, NM; Joseph Guerrero and wife Tammy of Elgin, TX; one step-daughter, Josephine Keller and husband Marty of Sierra Vista, AZ; two brothers, Frank Estrada of Canadian, TX; Lee Estrada of Las Vegas, NV; one sister, Eulalia Mendez of Sterling City, TX; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
