Mary L. Thomas

Graveside services for Mrs. Mary L. Thomas, 85, of Higgins, TX will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Higgins Cemetery with Gordon Lawson, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mrs. Thomas passed away Saturday, May 30, 2009 in Amarillo, Texas. Mary was born July 12, 1923 in Lipscomb County, TX to the late Mr. Anton Bucher and Mrs. Ida (Horne) Bucher. She attended schools in Higgins. She married Elbridge Thomas on July 27, 1940 in Arnett, OK. He preceded her in death on December 26, 1991. They moved to Higgins in 1972 from Ellis County, OK. Mary loved taking care of the family livestock and was a member of the Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by one daughter, Patsy Thomas, two brothers, Frank and Herman Bucher, one sister, Elna Thomas and her son-in-law, R.B. Willyard. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Sue Willyard and Margie Barton both of Higgins, TX; three grandchildren, Patty Willyard of Amarillo, TX; Todd Barton of Dallas, TX; Clayton Barton of Arnett, OK; five great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law ,Gaydean Bucher of Canadian, TX. The family suggest memorials be made a favorite charity. Viewing will be available at the First Christian Church Chapel at 402 Purcell Ave in Canadian.
