Graveside services for Mrs. Nellie Mae Bettis, 75, of Woodward, OK will be at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian, TX with Sheldon Riley, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the Abundant Life Assembly of God in Canadian, TX. Mrs. Bettis passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009 in Amarillo, Texas. Mrs. Bettis was born November 17, 1933 in Willow, OK to the late Mr. Melvin Paty and Mrs. Mamie (Word) Paty. She was a 1951 graduate of Higgins High School. She married Ronald L. Bettis on July 1, 1951 in Tucumcari, NM. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1977. Mrs. Bettis worked as a bookkeeper for Stock Exchange Bank until retiring. She attended Faith United Methodist Church in Woodward, OK. She is survived by two sons, Larry Bettis and wife Melynda and Danny Bettis and wife Cheryl all of Amarillo, TX; one daughter, Melinda Johnson and husband Don of Woodward, OK; two sisters, Doris Landers and Joy Ridgway and husband Phil all of Higgins, TX; and Ronald’s siblings, Boyd Bettis of Moriarty, NM; Clata Dodd of Arlington, TX; Carole Kay, Dean Bettis and wife Carol all of Amarillo, TX; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be made to Mission Trip care of First Assembly of God, 3906 Lakeview Dr., Woodward, OK 73801.
