Services for Ollie Rogers, 101, of Canadian, Texas, will be at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 17, 2009 at the First Baptist Church with Don McElroy, officiating and Ben Mathers, assisting. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian, TX under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, Texas. Mrs. Rogers passed away Friday, May 15, 2009 in Canadian, Texas. Ollie was born July 15, 1907 in Hot Springs, AR to the late Mr. William J. Vannoy and Mrs. Bertha Mae (House) Vannoy. She attended schools in Soper, OK. Ollie moved to Hemphill County, TX in 1924 from Soper, OK. She married Mark Howard Rogers on June 16, 1929 in Shattuck, OK. He preceded her in death on April 8, 1983. Ollie was a member of the Arts and Crafts Club and WMU. She was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church for 75 years where she was one of the first members of the church when it opened in 1934. While being a member she was a Sunday school teacher and helped with Vacation Bible School. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Hollis, Tommy and William, three sisters, Zelma, Helen and Aileen, two daughter-in-laws, Peggy Rogers on September 4, 1973 and Norma Carr Rogers on February 21, 2007. She is survived by two sons, Billy Rogers and Garlon Rogers and wife Pat all of Canadian, TX; five grandchildren, Jeff Rogers and wife Belinda of Fort Worth, TX; Deana Stephens and husband Darrel, Christy Francis and husband Scott, Kem Carr and wife Neva, Marty Carr and wife Sharon all of Canadian, TX; nine great-grandchildren, Travis Francis and wife Amanda of Canadian, TX; Lesley Francis of Amarillo, TX; Nic and Jamie Stephens both of Albuquerque, NM; Hilary Shellhorse and husband Brent of Fort Worth, TX; Chad Carr and wife Lori Beth, Brian Carr, Cory Carr and Casey Carr all of Canadian, TX; four great-great-grandchildren, Tyler Carr and Kaden Carr both of Canadian, TX; Holden Shellhorse and Hutton Shellhorse both of Fort Worth ,TX.
