Services for B.J. Minick, 32, of Canadian, TX will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2016, at the Church of Christ with Jake Perkins and Steve Smith, officiating. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. B.J. went home to be with his Savior Friday, February 5, 2016 in Amarillo, TX. B.J. was born July 1, 1983 in Canadian, TX to Brad Minick and Karen (Wayne) Voorhees. He attended Canadian High School with the class of 2001 and later received his GED. He married Ella Pearce on November 3, 2014 in Amarillo, TX. B.J. worked in the oilfield and was very active in the Church of Christ. He worked for Project Rescue of Decatur, Alabama, where he also sat on the board. B.J. loved sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys and playing his guitar. He was very passionate to his call of ministering to those struggling with addictions. He was preceded in death by his sister, Kami Minick and his grandfather, Jim Minick. He is survived by his wife, Ella Minick of Canadian, TX; his parents, Brad Minick and Kristi Gibbs of Yukon, OK and Karen and Barry Voorhees of Canadian, TX; his sister, Abbi Voorhees of Canadian, TX; his grandparents, Richard and Brenda Farquer of Glazier, TX; Pat Minick of Canadian, TX; his great grandmother, Dollie Mitchell of Canadian, TX; his step sister, Katie Voorhees of Soper, OK; his step brothers, Benjamin Voorhees, Canadian, TX; Nathan Voorhees and Kaleb Voorhees both of Soper, OK. The family suggests memorials be to Project Rescue, 179 Cave Spring Road, Decatur, AL 35603.
