Funeral services for Jimmy C. Roden, age 65 of Lubbock, Texas and formerly of Memphis, will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Memphis, Texas, with Daniel Downey, Pastor, and Ronnie Morris officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mr. Roden passed away on Friday, January 23, 2009 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born on March 27, 1943 in Memphis, Texas to the late Jess Roden and Frankie (Morris) Roden. He graduated from Memphis High School, and went on to attend West Texas State University in Canyon. A longtime farmer and rancher, he moved to Lubbock in the early 90’s where he worked as a Bank Appraiser for City Bank until retiring in 2002. He married Alice Kay (Young) Roden on October 9, 1999 in Memphis. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Memphis. He is survived by his wife, Alice Kay Roden of Lubbock; one son, J C Roden of Frisco, TX; one daughter, Victoria Johnson and husband Darren of LaVernia, TX; two step-daughters, ZAnn Messer and husband Terry of Seymour, and Leigh Ann Hawthorne and husband Dan of Memphis; ten grandchildren, Connor, Kylie, Kennedy and Cole Roden, Hunter, Haleigh and Hayden Johnson, Jason and Jenna Messer, and Wes Hawthorne; one brother, Johnny Harrel of Memphis; in-laws Foy and Johnnie Sue Young of Memphis; and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Eddie Harrel. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-7 PM on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the funeral home.
