Charles "Charlie" J. Fortunato

Funeral services for Charles “Charlie” J. Fortunato, 92, of Memphis, TX will be at 2:30 PM Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Fairview Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Robert Blum, Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Memphis, Officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Mr. Fortunato died on Friday, January 9, 2009, in Memphis, TX. He was born on February 9, 1916 in Chicago, IL to the late Mr. Frank Fortunato and Mrs. Annie Redmond Fortunato. He married Lorraine Schroeder on May 24, 1969 in Lindenhurst, IL and they moved to Memphis, Texas on December 1, 2007 from California. He had been a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Carpenteria, California, before moving to Memphis. He worked for Abbott Laboratories as a Warehouse Deliveryman until his retirement in 1978, and had served his country in the United States Army. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Fortunato of Memphis, TX; one daughter, Nancy Amstedt; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and two siblings. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Memphis Convalescent Center, 1415 N. 18th Street, Memphis, TX 79245.
