Services for Karra Widener, 90, of Memphis, TX, will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at the Church of Christ in Memphis, TX, with Tom Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Widener passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 in Childress, TX. She was born on February 4, 1916 in Newlin, TX to the late Mr. Walter Spruill and Mrs. Bessie Tucker Spruill. She grew up on the family farm north of Newlin, TX, and attended school in Newlin. She married Lonnie F. Widener, Sr. on December 15, 1934 in Memphis, TX. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1998. Mrs. Widener lived in Hall county all of her life. She was a housewife and a member of the Church of Christ in Memphis, TX. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmie Widener in July of 2001; a great granddaughter, Christin Terry; and two great grandsons, Quade Jones and Connor Scott. She is survived by five daughters, Glenna Rhodes and husband Bob of Amarillo, TX; Wanda Howard and husband Carlton of Amarillo, TX; Barbara Maddox and fiance Jimmy Morrison of Amarillo, TX; Jo Ann Hooten and husband Robert of Fredericksburg, TX; and Gayle Cosper and husband Jerry of Brownfield, TX; one son, Lonnie Widener, Jr. and wife Alvie of Memphis, TX; one brother, W.H. "Dub" Spruill and wife Lou of Amarillo, TX; one sister, Irene Reed Brassel of Flint, TX; one sister-in-law, Opal Yarbrough of Plainview, TX; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Fairview Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 265, Memphis, TX 79245.
