Alice Garnas

Services for Alice Garnas, 96, of Canadian, TX will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Canadian, TX with Rev. Jerry Golden, officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mrs. Garnas died Tuesday, February 7, 2006 in Canadian, TX. She was born on April 11, 1909 in Pluzna, Austria Hungary to the late Mr. Mathias “Matt” Mlekush and Elizabeth Roth Mlekush. She married Levi F. Garnas on November 18, 1929 in Albuquerque, NM. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1964. She moved to Canadian, TX in 1941 from Wellington, KS. Alice was a waitress at local restaurants and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers. She is survived by one half brother, Joe Mlekush of Arizona; one sister-in-law, Mildred Mlekush of California; two nephews, Matt Mlekush and wife Ellen of Murfreesboro, TN; Dewey Mann of New Mexico and several nephews and nieces.
