Shirley Ann Hodges

Services for Shirley Hodges, 69, of Amarillo and formerly of Memphis, will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at the Hughs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Memphis, TX, with Elly Gillespie and Larry Harvey, Pastor of Lake Country Church in Ft. Worth, officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis. Mrs. Hodges passed away Thursday, December 18, 2008 in Amarillo, TX. Shirley was born on June 15, 1939 in Memphis, TX to the late Mr. Gaylan Pete Ariola and Mrs. Gertie Mae (Smith) Ariola. She attended school in Lakeview, and later obtained her degree in Nursing, an occupation which she loved and continued working in until her retirement. She was a fun and loving person who cared for her family deeply. She is survived by one son, Robert Harold Hodges; two daughters, Tammy Holt and Debbie Gilchrest, and their father Robert Hodges; one brother, Bruce Ariola; two sisters, Elly Gillespie and LaJuana Tucker; six grandchildren, Corey Welch, Timothy Hodges, Tiffany Hodges, Trista Gilchrest, Joshua Hodges and Jacob Hodges; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Meals on Wheels, c/o Patsy Spier, 407 Main Street, Hedley, TX 79237.
