Services for Janie L. Elder, 39, of Lakeview, TX, will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at the United Pentecostal Church in Memphis, TX, with Rev. Tommy Gant officiating, assisted by Rev. Rick Musick. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Lakeview, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Elder passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 in Wichita Falls, TX. She was born on June 17, 1966 in Memphis, TX to Benford Joe Elrod and Frankie (Freelen) Gurley. She grew up in Memphis, TX and lived briefly in Big Spring, TX. She graduated from Detroit High School in Detroit, TX in 1985 and attended Paris Junior College. Janie lived in Paris, TX for twenty years and moved to Lakeview, TX in June of 2005. She married Tim B. Elder on August 19, 2005 in Memphis, TX. Mrs. Elder was a housewife. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jim and Ethel Freelen and Joe Elrod; one brother, Shane Gurley; and two nephews. She is survived by her husband, Tim B. Elder of Lakeview, TX; one daughter, Kayla R. Elrod of Lakeview, TX; her parents, Weldon and Frankie Gurley of Memphis, TX, and B.J. and Agnes Elrod of Paris, TX; her grandmother, Eva Mackey of Paris, TX; one step-son, Timothy Brian Elder, Jr and wife Danie of Alpna, MI; two step-daughters, Sara McCarty and husband Sid of Commerce, TX; and Amanda Bueffle and husband Jason of Edwards, CA; a granddaughter, Allison Carol Elder of Commerce, TX; three sisters, Cynthia Brown and Susie Elrod of Paris, TX; and B.J. Elrod of Amarillo, TX; three step-sisters, Lisa Davis of Tucumcari, NM; Bobbie Levenbaun of Phoenix, AZ; and Nancy Lowe of Cumby, TX; three step-brothers, James Gurley of Amarillo, TX; Eddie Gurley of Phoenix, AZ; and Tommy Lowe of Cumby, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, February 3, 2006 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
