Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery in Follett, TX under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, Texas. Mrs. Fry passed away Saturday, November 29, 2008 in Amarillo, Texas. Mary was born in Lipscomb County, near Follett, to Mary Eleanor Broyles Haines and Arno Lemuel Haines on September 15, 1930. She grew up on her grandparents farm, graduating from Follett High School, then Draughons School of Business. She went on her first date on her 16th birthday with Russell Lloyd Fry. They later married at St. John’s Congregational Church, southwest of Follett on December 23, 1949. They made their home together for almost 59 years in Lipscomb, except for a 2 year stay in Alaska where Lloyd served in the United States Army and Mary worked for the military. Mary’s professional life was spent with the United States Department of Agriculture. She retired in 1985 after 35 years with the Lipscomb County ASCS office. Mary’s real calling though was in nurturing and caring for her family and their friends, whom she soon made family. Her greatest pleasure was in becoming Nanny to one and all for the last 32 years. Mary is survived by her husband, Lloyd Fry on Lipscomb, TX; her son, Jim Fry and wife Kathy of Lipscomb, TX and her children and grandchildren, Will Bussard and wife Mary Helen and daughter Phyllis of Denver, CO; Giulia Morvan and husband Red and children Lindey, Finn and Cooper of Katy, TX and Cheri Huntress and husband Levi and children Gracie, Eric and Delaney of Wellington, TX; Mary and Lloyd’s daughter Barbara Jines, granddaughter Jessica Russell and husband Justin and great-grandchildren Taylor and Loclynne and granddaughter Katie Cummins all of Canadian, TX.
