John Roy Murdock, Sr.

Memphis, TX – Funeral services for John Roy “JR” Murdock, Sr., age 64 of Memphis, Texas, will be at 2:30 PM on Friday, November 28, 2008 at the Hughs Funeral Home Chapel in Memphis, Texas, with Jackie Blum of Red Marble Ministries officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mr. Murdock passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2008 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was born on September 28, 1944 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to the late Roy and Mae Belle (Ellis) Murdock. A longtime resident of Memphis, he married Iva Mae Hawthorne on April 9, 1965, and she preceded him in death in 1997. He later married Shirley Ivy on September 2, 2000 in Memphis. He was a line supervisor at Bell Helicopter for many years. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Charlene Short. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sons, John and Kell; a daughter, Toni; seven grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Lorena King and Christine Lindsey; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
