Evelyn Babitzke

Graveside services for Mrs. Evelyn Babitzke, 85, of Canadian, TX will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 17, 2008 at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Donald Hill, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mrs. Babitzke passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2008 in Amarillo, Texas. Evelyn was born July 4, 1923 in Higgins, TX to the late Mr. Ludwig Appel and Mrs. Ida (Longhofer) Appel. She attended schools in Bishop, OK. She married Christian “Chris” Babitzke on February 26, 1944 in Arnett, OK. They moved to Canadian in 1977 from Lipscomb County. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by one sister, Ida Lee Brown. She is survived by her husband, Christian “Chris” Babitzke of Canadian, TX; one son, Dickie Babitzke and wife Debbie of Darrouzett, TX; one daughter, Joyce Meek and husband Bill of Durham, OK; five grandchildren, Tamara Jones, Tonya Smith, Angela Marquez, Chris Meek and Delf Meek; eight great-grandchildren; one niece, Cindy Hughes and one nephew, Colby Brown. The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
