George Simpson

Graveside service for George Simpson, 91, of Canadian, TX will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery with Cory Campbell, officiating. Inurnment will follow under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. George passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014 in Canadian, TX. George was born January 8, 1923 in Canadian, TX to the late Mr. Alex Simpson and Mrs. Clara Helen Augusta Schellestede Simpson. He was a 1940 graduate of Canadian High School. He married Emma Spruell on February 28, 1974 in Canadian, TX. She preceded him in death on October 11, 1999. George worked for the Santa Fe Railroad until retiring. He was a 32 degree Mason belonging to Lodge and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a step son, Fred Borst. He is survived by two step sons, William Borst of Nacogdoches, TX; Thomas Borst of Elk City, OK; two step daughters, Irene Kirkhart of Canadian, TX; Willa Condren of Waco, TX; one sister, Dorothy Simpson May of Alamogordo, NM; two nieces, Sharon Taylor of Tularosa, NM; Helen May of Alamogordo, NM.
