Services for Lucille Godfrey, age 90 of Memphis, TX will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 25, 2008 at the First Baptist Church with O.K. Bowen, Retired Minister, and Daniel Downey, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Godfrey passed away on Monday, September 22, 2008 in Childress, TX. Lucille was born on September 23, 1917 in Hollis, Oklahoma to the late Ed and Bess (Brewer) Crump. She moved to Memphis as a young girl, and later graduated from Memphis High School. She married J.P. Godfrey. He preceded her in death in June of 1984. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church where she was also a member of the Choir. She was a member of the Hall County Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and five brothers, Dub Crump, Bud Crump, Joe Crump, Wiley Crump, and an infant brother who died in early childhood. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Collins and husband Butch of Memphis, TX; and LuGay Chiang and husband Gary of Plano, TX; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Shepherd of Houston, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Building Fund, PO Box 726, Memphis, TX 79245.
