Opal Waites

Services for Opal Marie Martin Waites, 82, of Desoto, TX, formerly of Memphis, TX, will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at First Baptist Church in Memphis, TX, with Rev. Kerry Wood officiating, assisted by Keith Martin. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Waites passed away on Monday, December 26, 2005 in Desoto, TX. She was born on February 13, 1923 in Harold Chapel, TX to the late Johnny Martin and Maggie (Wills) Martin. She lived in Memphis, TX all of her life, and married Stacey Coy Waites on September 6, 1941 in the Friendship Community. He preceded her in death on October 29, 1985. Mrs. Waites was a member of First Baptist Church in Memphis. She was a homemaker. She is survived by one son, Roddy Waites of Athens, TX; one daughter, Lana Hubbard of Cedar Hill, TX; two sisters, Gwen Hill of Clarendon, TX; and Billie Wood of Childress, TX; one brother, Wayne Martin of Wellington, TX; three granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Fairview Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 265, Memphis, TX 79245.
