Services for Mrs. Elsie Hoover, 81, of Allen, TX formerly of Memphis, TX will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Robert G. Blum, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Hoover passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008 in McKinney, TX. Elsie was born September 30, 1926 in White Bread, OK to the late Mr. Dossie Spicer and Mrs. Mary Emma (Hosey) Spicer. She was a graduate of Binger High School in Binger, OK. She also attended Western Union School in Springfield, MO. She moved to Memphis, TX in 1945. She married Brode Jackson Hoover on December 20, 1946 in Wichita Falls, TX. He preceded her in death on August 19, 1974. Elsie was a licensed insurance agent. She was a member of the Business Professional Woman’s Club. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Memphis and an elder at First Presbyterian Church in Plano, TX. She was preceded in death by one sister, Alice Varrow. She is survived by two daughters, Regina Freestone of Bumpass, VA; Jane Gower of Allen, TX; two grandchildren, Bill Freestone and John Freestone both of Centreville, VA; one great-granddaughter, Samantha Mae Freestone of Centreville, VA. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 1, 2008 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at Hughs Funeral Home, 514 N 10th St., Memphis, TX.
