Services for Bob Slavin, 62, of Higgins, TX will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Higgins High School Auditorium with Randy Thompson, officiating. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian, TX under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Bob passed from this life suddenly on Thursday, July 10, 2014 near Tangier, OK. Bob was born April 20, 1952 in Canadian, TX, the youngest child of Ted and Marilee Tepe Slavin. Bob attended Higgins School and went on to graduate from Allen Academy in Bryan, TX. Upon graduation he returned to Higgins and worked for Red Snyder and Tom Coffee for a short time before driving for Ted Slavin Livestock Transportation. After Ted’s death he continued the trucking business. He was also involved in farming and ranching. In 1972, Bob met the love of his life, Mavonteine “George” Vincent from Arnett and they married March 2, 1973 at the First Baptist Church in Arnett, OK a true match made in heaven. To this union was born three sons, Rowdy, Rusty and Roper all of which Bob was immensely proud. Bob was a #1 father to his sons and later the best grandpa ever to his grandkids. He was very active in rodeo and served as a director in the Tri-State organization when his boys participated. After the boys graduated high school, he followed them through the college rodeos and still follows his kids and grandkids in rodeos. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, grandmothers, Ethel Tepe and Pauline Slavin and his in-laws, Calvin and Imogene Vincent. Survivors include his wife, George Slavin of Higgins, TX; his sons, Rowdy Slavin and wife Kelley of Goodwill, OK; Rusty Slavin and wife Kristol of Canadian, TX; Roper Slavin and wife Ashley of Woodward, OK; his brother, Jim Slavin and wife Mary of Miami, TX; his sister, Dona Folks and husband Jim of Arnett, OK; his grandchildren, Cooper and Kiley Slavin of Goodwill, OK; Camree and Chaynee Slavin of Canadian, TX; Kori J. Slavin of Woodward, OK (Bob said she was really cute, she looked just like him; his nieces, Rae Lynn and Jessica Gibbs both of Miami, TX; Stacey Roberts and husband Harold of Nichols Hills, OK; Jamie Landers and Larry of Arnett, OK; his nephew, Wade Folks and wife Melissa of Leedy, OK and numerous cousins and close friends.
