Graveside services for Thelma Curnutt Morris Scales, 89, of Clovis, NM formerly of Canadian, TX will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian, TX with Cory Campbell, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX.Thelma passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 in Clovis, NM.Thelma was born November 16, 1924 in Kim, CO to the late Mr. Columbus Curnutt and Mrs. Florence (Adcock) Curnutt. She was a 1941 graduate of Waco High School. She married Kenneth Morris on July 21, 1945 in Colorado Springs, CO. He preceded her in death on May 24, 1968. She later married George Scales on July 6, 1973 in Clovis, NM. He preceded her in death on April 10, 2013. They moved to Clovis, NM in 1974 from Canadian, TX. She was a member of Faith Christian Family Church in Clovis and a homemaker. Thelma was a loving and caring person with a great sense of humor. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Darlene and Mary Jo Morris; five brothers, Bill, Wilburn, Norman “Casto”, Horace and Harold Curnutt; one sister, Helen Jahnel. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Morris and wife Gina Marie of Borger, TX; her daughter, Suzanne Thrasher and husband Harold of Clovis, NM; three grandchildren, Mariah Morris of Borger, TX; Melissa Garland and husband Gerald of Grady, NM; Kenneth Thrasher of Casa Grande, AZ; two great-grandchildren, Ashley Genitski and husband Will of Grady, NM; Mason Thrasher of Casa Grande, AZ. The family suggests memorials to Gentiva Hospice, 2708 N Prince St., Clovis, NM 88101.
